HeartBeat
Inspired by the healing impact of music, HeartBeat is an international music program that was developed to support children growing up in impoverished and violent communities through the utilization of therapeutic music resources in schools.
Schools located in underserved communities are provided with a curated collection of original songs specifically written with therapeutic music elements to create a healing atmosphere.
HeartBeat’s music uses carefully crafted repetitive beat patterns, predictable music structures and low frequency sounds that have been scientifically proven to help regulate the brain's stress response system, promoting a sense of relaxation and focus.
Program Implementation
To date, HeartBeat has connected with 90 schools and youth programs throughout the United States, including Boston, Newark, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Washington DC and internationally in Kenya and Ghana.
Music is utilized during arrival and dismissal, hallway transitions, independent study periods, and in calming areas where children are able to self-regulate listening to the therapeutic music catalog.
